When you think of the Isle of Wight what comes to mind? Perhaps you recall images of the yachts amassed in the harbour for Cowes Week or maybe the legendary music festivals of the sixties.
One thing for sure is that the island is synonymous with summer holidays for a huge number of London residents. Now, the Seaside & Country Homes scheme could make the island your home too.
Take Eileen Filmer for instance. She moved from a Broomleigh Housing Association home in the south of London to a Places for People property in Newport on the Isle of Wight.
Having been born in, and lived and worked in London, for her whole life any move would represent a huge challenge but Eileen believes it’s the best decision she has made in years.

London is a wonderful city. Thousands of tourists from around the world visit its many attractions; it is soon to host the Olympic Games and attracts business from all over the globe.
Yet London is not always ideal for everyone; even many people who have grown up in the capital seek an alternative from the fast pace of city life as they approach retirement.
Anne Dolan is one such former London resident. Anne moved with her husband eight years ago from a council flat in the centre of Islington in north-east London to a two bedroom flat in the pleasant coastal town of Worthing, in West Sussex, managed by Places for People.

If you're interested in applying for the Seaside & Country Homes scheme these are the key criteria you'll need to meet:
When completing the form it is important to complete all relevant questions. Applicants are advised to select as many areas that they are interested in moving to as possible so as to increase the chance of a move. Look at the Property section to find the areas where there are Seaside & Country Homes.
Important: we are unable to accept applications for Seaside & Country Homes from households where all members are younger than 60 years of age or where the lead applicant does not currently live in social housing.
This scheme does not guarantee you a move and priority is given to tenants who are giving up larger sized properties.
