4. Site usage information

(i) Session cookies

Cookies are pieces of data created when you visit a website. The cookies our site uses are "session cookies". These store some of your "preferences" while you move around the site. You can set your computer not to accept cookies. However, if you do this, you will not be able to log in or change your regional preference. Session cookies are deleted when you leave the site. Why do we collect and store your information?

The principal purposes for which we collect and store your data are to:

  1. Facilitate a dialogue between local authorities and housing associations in areas with a high demand for housing and such bodies in areas with a surplus of housing.
  2. Inform local authorities and housing associations of people in their area with an interest in the housingmoves project and, thereby, facilitate the provision of information to such people
  3. Monitor, improve and administer the content of the website and the services provided
  4. Customise the content and/or layout of our site for each individual user.

Who do we disclose your information to?

The purposes for which we collect and store your data require the information to be distributed to housing officers in housing associations and local authorities who will, themselves, be bound by the Data Protection Act and general law.

Other than as detailed above, we do not pass on your details to any third party unless you give us written permission to do so or unless obliged to do so by law.
