The market town of Bridgwater is situated in the middle of the Sedgemoor District of Somerset on the major route from London through to south west England and sat beneath the Mendip Hills to the north and the Quantock Hills to the west.
Highbridge is a small market town near the mouth of the River Brue on the edge of the Somerset Levels approximately 20 miles north of Taunton. Brean Down, a dramatic peninsular jutting out into the Bristol Channel is close by for walks and the cahnce to see a Napoleonic Fort. Highbridge also shares local administration and amenities with the neighbouring seaside town of Burnham-on-Sea.
The popular seaside resort of Minehead, with its famous Butlins site prominent on the seafront, remains a firm favourite with day trippers and holiday makers and the town has a long history as a port. The town is also close to Exmoor National Park and nearby cliffs offer dramatic scenery.
The county town of Somerset lies on the River Tone in the Vale of Taunton, between the Quantock Blackdown and Brenton Hills. It has all the features of a large town including a major shopping area, several public parks and excellent transport links to London, other major cities and also parts of the UK lying further to the west. It is also home to Somerset Cricket Club.
Weston-super-Mare is a prominent seaside resort on the coast of the Bristol Channel with large beaches. The town itself is mostly flat and views are dominated by Worlebury Hill which borders the northern edge of the town. In the centre of the town is Ellenborough Park, a site of special scientific interest due to the variety of plant-life found there.
The village of Worle has been absorbed by Weston-super-Mare as its expansion caused it to merge into its neighbour. It shares many amenities and is close to Weston's beaches and parks.
