Shrewsbury
Shrewsbury is the country town for Shropshire, close to the Welsh borders. It is widely considered to be one of the finest medieval market towns and is set in acres of glorious countryside.
The town centre, packed with timber framed properties and narrow streets and alleyways is home to more than 600 listed buildings, including Shrewsbury Abbey.
The River Severn loops around the town and next to the river is Quarry Park, home to the annual Shrewsbury Flower Show. Shrewsbury was used as the set for the 1984 film A Christmas Carol and the gravestone of Ebeneezer Scrooge can still be found in the graveyard of St. Chads Church.
