Blackfield is a small village in Southampton; Botley is a larger historic market village, also in Hampshire but further inland, close to Eastleigh and Fareham. It is dotted with flour mills and old inns.
The town of Emsworth lies within the district of Portsmouth and South East Hampshire and is situated on Chichester Harbour. It retains an atmosphere of its past as an important port for the area and there are several lovely old houses around the town square.
Lee on the Solent and Lordswood are typical retirement towns. Lee, a small seaside town, five miles west of Portsmouth, offers a relaxed way of life and stunning views of the Solent towards Isle of Wight. Lordwood is in the northern part of Southampton.
New Milton is a market town situated on the edge of the renowned New Forest, close to Lymington and 12 miles from Bournemouth city centre. The market, which dates back many years, continues to thrive. Barton-on-Sea, a suburb of New Milton, is at the beginning of a cliff top path that runs to Emsworth on the West Sussex border and offers fantastic views.
Ringwood lies on the River Avon within Southampton and South West Hampshire and is made up of five villages: Brangsore, Burley, Eillingham, Harbridge and Ibsley. A weekly market is held in the town. Rural treats include Furzey Gardens, which has an international reputation for horticulture and the national nature reserve at Martin Down.
West End is a small village within the Borough of Eastleigh, to the north east of Southampton and is home to the famous Rose Bowl cricket ground. It is surrounded by woodland and countryside, including Itchen Valley Country Park.
