Dorset is on the south coast of England and is one of the most popular seaside destinations in the UK boasting the resorts of Bournemouth, Poole, Weymouth, Swanage and Lyme Regis as well as the Jurassic World Heritage Site, home to Lulworth Cove, Chesil Beach and Durdle Door.
It is a largely rural county with many small villages and a few large towns, many of which are historic market towns or seaside resorts. The county has the largest number of conservation areas in England and almost half of Dorset is classified as an Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty. There are also two Heritage Coasts and some Sites of Special Scientific Interest.
